The young Ruth Thalia Sayas Sanchez was killed by her boyfriend after making a shocking confession on the Peruvian reality show “Nada más que la verdad“.
Ruth Thalia Sayas Sanchez was killed in 2012 by her boyfriend Bryan Romero after she confessed that she worked as a hostess in a nightclub and had accepted intimate relationships for money.
The program “Nada más que la verdad” rewards people who answer questions truthfully. Ruth was participating in the show and her mother, father, and boyfriend were in the audience at the time of the revelation.
The host, Beto Ortiz, asked Ruth if she thought “her parents would be proud if they knew what she did to earn money”. Ruth’s parents believed she worked in a call center.
Ruth won more than $4,000 at the time, which would have been equivalent to several years of work in Peru.
Eight weeks after the confession, Ruth was murdered by her boyfriend with the help of a relative. According to the Rotten Mango podcast, the police stated that they had drugged the young woman, killed her and hidden her body on the outskirts of Lima, the capital of Peru.
Some people even blamed the reality show for exposing the victim. Ruth’s uncle, Freddy Sanchez Rojas, said that “This television program has absolutely nothing to do with it.”
Beto Ortiz said that “What they are doing is providing an alibi for the defenders of a soulless criminal, because they are removing his responsibility by saying that television creates monsters”, according to LADbiblie.
